~ A Keeper's Tale ~

Miranda - Voiced over as she watches the canoes glide away, "I think it's time for me to live."

Prospero - To Miranda in their house, "Yes.  I think you're right.  But did you know that I was never the book's keeper ?"

Miranda - Smiles, "I did know that."

Prospero - In a hug, "We are so proud of you, Miranda."

Miranda - "I'm proud of you too.  You were a beautiful tale."

She steps back embracing the book as he and the house fade away, and she stands alone in the woods.   She continues staring at nothing, head down until Morgan (historical) walks up next to her.

They watch the Morgan of the past as the boats back down the river ...

Morgan - "Sometimes history meets a myth."

Miranda - "I was never here.  Was I ?"

Morgan - "You're here now."

Andromeda - Lying with Morgan in low light, "Will you tell me ?"

Morgan - "I've told you everything.  I've answered every question, told you every tale."   She laughs, "There's nothing !"  She rolls to her back looking up distantly, smile fading.

Andromeda - Rolling over to kiss her heart, "No you haven't but maybe you can't."  She smiles, smelling her neck, "Maybe you don't know either.  A word you haven't learned yet ?"  She smiles crouching over her, "Can't hack it with your shiny new sword ?"

Morgan - Laughing, "Okay ! I'll take it if you'll stop asking !" Rolling them into the blankets, "I just don't know the word."
________

The keeper wakes up suddenly with a breath, Miranda sitting over her reading the book of names, smiling and touching the pages as she turns them.

The keeper stares at her terrified, with shortened breaths inhaling, shrinking back and pulling the covers.

Miranda - Still smiling at the pages then looking up, gently, "I want you to know we're not going to take this from you.  I'm not.  And I want you to know that we believe in you."  She closes the book and holds it up, "This.  Is yours now."

She stands, the keeper's eyes following her as she pulls a chair to the bedside. "But I want to read you a story.  Okay ?"

The keeper nods with terror, her eyes falling to the book as Miranda opens it again.

Morgan - "He knows why.  Ask him."

Abraxas - "Because we needed the story."

Merlin - Looking up curious, "Why ?"

Morgan - Circling, "Because you sold us out.  Why ?"

Abraxas - "You even sold out God.  Why ?"

Morgan - "Your people."

Abraxas - "Your order."

Morgan - Disdainfully, "So why merlin why ?"

Merlin - Laughing quietly, "Why ... why, why, why ... why not ?"

When asked what had happened by the next colonials, the regional Chief Powhatan, father of Matoaka, known to the west as 'Pocahontas', told them they were very bad men so they killed them all, and then asked if they'd like their stuff back.

True story.
